Once fiberglass becomes wet, it must be opened up, removed, dried up and then replaced. Here is a good example in pictures of how a job like this looks like after the damaged area is removed. The core replaced and fiberglass is re-applied. The final steps are to match the gel coat and the non-skid pattern, and then the stanchion is put back.
